The Baldassarra Family has historically contributed to many hospitals in the city of Toronto but in his emotional speech that day, Carlo Baldassarra acknowledged that this Hospital was particularly close to his heart. “I’m very proud to be here today and very emotional, especially to see my whole family in front of me and to be donating to build this hospital. He emphasized how he and his family believe it’s so important to give to this cause. “The best donation the family can make is to the hospital,” he says to the audience. It’s not uncommon for the Baldassarra family to be directly involved with the community they live in. “My family understands how important it is to support and create new healthcare infrastructures in Vaughan,” he added. This community needs to continue to unite to make Vaughan the best place to live and watch your family grow and prosper.” By reaching into their hearts and making this significant and generous donation to the City’s first hospital, already under construction on Major Mac between Weston Road and Jane Street, across from Canada’s Wonderland, the Baldassarra family hopes to inspire other builders and the business community to follow in kind.

With over 330,000 people in the City of Vaughan, The Greenpark Group has built over 18,700 homes. “We are very proud of this hospital and equally proud and happy to donate to this project”, said Carlo.  “We want to thank the City of Vaughan and all the people who have donated. One day we will build more. This hospital is a special one, it’s very important to the City of Vaughan, hopefully one day we can do more.”

The Greenpark Group has been building successfully from the ground up for 50 years and is wholly owned and operated by the Carlo Baldassarra family. His inspiring vision for the Greenpark Group, coupled with his strong leadership, has created a dynamic and growing organization focused on developing and delivering quality real estate projects throughout the Greater Toronto Area.

At his core, Carlo is a man who has always put family and community first. He has been married to his lovely wife, Angela, for 54 years; and their three sons, Mauro, Armando and Michael have followed their father’s lead, working as senior executives in the Greenpark Group.

Going forward, Carlo’s insights and experience will continue to guide the Group’s development, ensuring that the values of integrity, loyalty and hard work continue to define this extraordinary enterprise.

The Mackenzie Health Foundation’s Exceptional Care Belongs Here, campaign is the largest fundraising drives ever lead by a community hospital in Canada. It is committed to raising $250 million in community contributions toward the $1.6 - billion-project cost of the new Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital. This endeavour is being spearheaded by a dedicated 33-member cabinet co chaired by Greg Sorbara and Vaughan Mayor Maurizio Bevilaqua.

Construction of the new hospital, which is a 1.2 million sq. ft., state of the art health care facility featuring a fully integrated smart technology systems and medical devices - began last fall, and is making significant progress toward a scheduled opening in 2020.  “It will bring a specialized focus to inpatient chronic kidney care, according to Altaf Stationwala, President and CEO of Mackenzie Health. The Inpatient Dialysis Unit at the new hospital will be named in honour of Carlo and Angela Baldassarra Family to recognize this generous and transformative gift. “This gift,” says mayor Bevilacqua, “is a demonstration of their longstanding commitment to city building and is an example of how one family can make a profound impact on the lives of many and their compassion is a source of inspiration for us all.”
